SIMON GLEESON,
from The Rock in country New South Wales, graduated from the
Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 1998
and began touring throughout Australia and New Zealand with
Cameron Mackintosh's Tenth Anniversary production of Les
Miserables. Simon toured as part of the original Australian
cast of Jolson and his other theatre credits include the
Australian premiere of Songs for a New World; Sondheim's
Putting it Together and the original Australian tour of Shout! in which he covered and performed the role of Johnny O'Keefe.
Simon played the role of Nick Piazza in the Asia tour of Fame before joining the cast of Mamma Mia! playing the role of Sky
for which he was nominated for a Helpmann Award. He co-wrote
and performed in Ger Here, a piece commissioned for the York
Theatre in New York. For Sydney Theatre Company Simon was in
the world premiere of two Australian works: Harbour and The
Republic of Myopia which opened the new Sydney Theatre at
Walsh Bay.
Simon's
television credits include Seachange (series three) and Blue
Heelers.
Simon has recently travelled to London to perform a supporting lead role in the musical The Far Pavilions. |
