Toni Lamond has starred in many productions both
in Australia and overseas. Her Australian roles include Fraulein Schneider in
Cabaret, Maggie Jones in 42nd Street, Mama Rose in Gypsy,
Nancy in Oliver, and the title role in Wildcat. She has also
appeared in the Australian productions of Annie Get Your Gun, Tunnel
of Love, For Amusement Only and Pajama Game. Overseas she has
performed Carry on Laughing in Bournemouth, and in the United States in
Annie, Mame, 42nd Street, Oliver and Hello Dolly. Miss Lamond's
television appearances include Three's Company, Eight is Enough, Murder She
Wrote, The Love Boat, Starsky and Hutch, The Bob Newhart Show and The
Johnny Carson Show. She was the first female host on In Melbourne
Tonight. For the BBC she appeared on the Joan Reagan Variety Show
and Andy Stewart Variety Shows. Miss Lamond has received the Logie Award twice
for Best Entertainer and Most Popular Entertainer. In 1990 she won the Mo Award
and the Variety Club Award. Her autobiography First Half, published in
1990, reached number one on the Bestseller list, eight days after its
release.
Toni created the role of Ruth for Essgee's production of The
Pirates. Since then she has played The Wardrobe in the Sydney production
of Disney's Beauty and The Beast, has released her second CD as
well as her second book. Toni has also embarked on recording and promoting a series of sing-a-long CDs for the elderly. Toni is still one of the country's foremost Cabaret and concert performers.
